A number of airlines fly direct from airports across the UK to this region of France. Depending on your choice of departure airport. Bordeaux, Biarritz, Bergerac, Carcassonne, Pau, Lourdes and Toulouse airports are within 1 - 3 hours driving time from Tuquet. Airlines currently serving the area are British Airways, CityJet, easyjet, FlyBe, BMIbaby, Jet2.com and Ryanair. We would remind clients that some of these flights are at unsocial hours and under no circumstances will the property be available after 9 pm. Clients arriving after this time should make alternative overnight arrangements and then arrange with us their arrival time for the following day.
The motorway network is an excellent system and connects this area to all the major channel ports. Driving time to the ports is between 9 and 11 hours and you should allow for rest periods. St Malo is the nearest port (9 hours) and Calais is around 11 hours. Traffic is heavy at weekends between 14th July and the end of August so you should allow extra journey time. Alternatively the Spanish ports (served by Brittany Ferries) of Santander is about 5 hours by motorway or Bilboa (4 hours).
EU law states that all cars must carry 2 warning triangles and reflective jackets for all the occupants in case of breakdown or accident. This is rigorously checked at police roadblocks in France and Spain and you could be fined on the spot if you are not carrying them. A car is essential and clients, if flying, are advised to pre-book car hire prior to leaving the UK. Do be aware that it is unlikely you will get the make & model you booked as availability depends on local supply. There is NO public transport in the area. The local supermarket filling station will only take credit cards using a chip & pin (UK type).
